Why I’m Running: Part 1
Posted on Sunday, September 3, 2017
As the son of a long-time Buncombe County Commissioner, I witnessed firsthand the positive impact that local politicians can have on people’s lives. While serving on the Commission from 1996 to 2016, he had a part in creating county-wide land-use regulations, protecting the views from the Blue Ridge Parkway, preserving more than 6,000 acres of farmland from development, building 11 new schools and renovating numerous city, county, and community college buildings, and helping add 6,000 new jobs through county incentives. He’s one of my biggest role models, and I hope to emulate his leadership and vision on the Apex Town Council.
